
Perched atop a hill overlooking the beautiful city of Alwar, Bala Quila Fort Alwar is a majestic symbol of Rajasthan’s glorious past. Built in the 15th century by Hasan Khan Mewati, Bala Quila (meaning Young Fort) has witnessed the rise and fall of several dynasties – from the Khanzadas to the Mughals and finally the Rajputs. Later, it was renovated by Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh in the 18th century. The fort has stood as a silent witness to many battles and royal events that shaped the history of Alwar.
Stretching across 5 km in length and 1.5 km in width, Bala Quila Fort is an architectural gem built with large granite stones. It has six massive gates – Jai Pol, Suraj Pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Krishna Pol, and Andheri Gate – each reflecting Rajputana grandeur. The fort walls are fortified with 15 large towers and 51 small towers, offering mesmerizing views of the surrounding landscape.
