Siliserh Lake Palace – Heritage Hotel by the Waters of Siliserh Lake, Alwar

1. Historical Significance & Origin

Siliserh Lake was constructed in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh of Alwar by building an embankment across a tributary of the Ruparel River to supply water to Alwar city. The adjoining palace was built as a tribute to his beloved queen, Shila Devi—hence the name Siliserh Palace. Today, that palace has been transformed into the RTDC‑run Lake Palace Hotel Siliserh.

2. The Lake & Scenery

Siliserh Lake spans approximately 7–10.5 km², framed by wooded Aravalli hills and bordered by ornate domed cenotaphs (chhatris) on its embankments. It teems with waterbirds and supports boating, fishing, and quiet lakeside sightseeing.

3. Accommodation & Facilities

The heritage hotel offers 12 well-appointed rooms: Luxury Suites, A/C, and Non-A/C rooms. Each comes with attached bathrooms (hot & cold water), TV, laundry, doctor‑on‑call, and room service. A lakeside multi‑cuisine restaurant serves Rajasthani, Indian, and Continental dishes with serene lake views Holidify+3Rajasthan Direct+3TripHobo+3.

Summary

Siliserh Lake Palace is a tranquil escape blending royal heritage, lakeside beauty, and rustic charm. Built in the 19th century by a ruling maharaja as a tribute to his queen, it now functions as a heritage hotel under RTDC. Ideal for leisurely weekend stays, boat rides, birdwatching, and experiencing Rajasthan’s quieter natural side. While the setting is magical, average service and infrastructure have drawn criticism—so be aware before visiting.
