• envisioned in 1876 by Maharaja Ram Singh II to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales, Albert Edward (later King Edward VII), hence the museum’s name. The foundation stone was laid on 6 February 1876.

• Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, with Mir Tujumool Hoosein assisting, the museum blends Indo-Saracenic and Rajput architectural style.

• Opened to the public in 1887 through the efforts of Maharaja Madho Singh II and curator Colonel Thomas Holbein Hendley, it emerged from the 1883 Jaipur Exhibition of Industrial Craft.
