Representing the traditional culture – Ghoomar dance of Rajasthan

What is the first word that comes to your mind when someone says – Rajasthan? A majority of people would surely say Ghoomar dance. The vibrant dresses with the royal jewels, graceful hand moves and the most beautiful expressions and of course the twirling movements. Ghoomar is considered to be the identity of Royal Rajasthan and it has made its place in the whole world. Ghoomar is one of the major attractions of Rajasthan. It is a traditional folk dance of Rajasthan in which the Rajasthani women all clad in beautiful royal ornaments and dresses aka poshaks perform together in circle with synchronized elegant steps. They are all veiled as it is the most graceful part of the whole dance.

The origin of this dance form is said to be from the Bhil tribe of Rajasthan who used to perform it to worship Goddess Saraswati. From a very long time, this dance form has been passed from generation to generation and it still has that grace and charm which even makes the youth crazy till now. The whole of Rajasthan adopted this dance form from this community after its origin but the Rajputs ruled the same.

Not only the traditional and professional artists perform this dance form, this has become very popular with the celebrities too. The top actress of the B-town Deepika Padukone has also performed this dance form beautifully with all the grace and poise in the movie Padmavat. Her performance of this dance form has been her laurels from all over the world.
