It was well worth the visit for viewing Mughal architecture, miniature paintings, Rajput objects and cultural events. This is also called the City Palace Museum. It has some exquisite architecture and some fascinating exhibits that give a sense of the history of Jaipur and its surroundings. Very nice, nice collection of items  Amazing a visit if only to see the enormous silver water carrying jars. Heavy enough empty but the thought of transporting them to London fill of water is somewhat mind blowing. it’s a direct look into the private lives of the Rajput and their families. The armory, their robes, the pictures that highlight so vividly their world. Obviously, the real hit would be a tour of their private palace, that is still theirs and it’s not open to the public.
A fantastic array of clothing and fashion of the times. It is also steeped in history and gives a good indication about the previous kings of Jaipur. You can get to see the attire wore by the royal family on various occasions, the history of all the kings.
The Sculpture Lumière show creates a visual narrative of the glory of rulers of Jaipur and also highlights the palace’s intricate architectural details and rich art patterns. This gives the visitor a chance to contemplate and appreciate the contribution of Jaipur and admire the beauty of the City Palace.
The great hall was fascinating with pictures of all the different Maharajahs and the superb carpet and chandeliers all added to the interest of our visit. So very enjoyable and we’re so pleased we went.
