Public Life on Diwali

Government offices, post offices, and banks are closed in Jaipur on Diwali. Stores and other businesses and organizations may be closed or have reduced opening hours. Transport is usually unaffected as many locals travel for religious celebrations. However, those wishing to use public transport on the day should check with the local transport authorities on public transit schedules. Laxmi Puja –  Jaipur will  celebrate  Diwali on 30th October 2016. On this day devotees get up early and take the auspicious bath and worship Lord Vishnu. People light diyas and draw beautiful rangolis on the day of Diwali.  Lakshmi puja usually falls on the day of Amavasya which is normally termed as inauspicious day. But Lakshmi pujan is regarded as the most auspicious festival. It is said that Goddess Lakshmi is god of wealth and beauty. She is also the wife of Lord Vishnu and bhakts offer gifts and grants for her auspicious blessings.

The mahurat timings for Diwali puja is as follows:

Lakshmi Puja Muhurat: 6:27 pm to 8:09 pm

Pradosh Kaal: 5:33 pm to 8:09 pm

Vrishabha Kaal: 6:27 pm to 8:22 pm
