The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the efficiency of traditional irrigation methods, which currently have an efficiency range of 25-40%. By adopting modern irrigation techniques, farmers can increase water use efficiency to 70-75%, leading to improved crop yields and better quality produce.

Benefits and Eligibility

The scheme offers a subsidy of 70% for general farmers and 75% for small and marginal farmers, including those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, as well as women farmers. The maximum area eligible for subsidy is 5 hectares. To be eligible, farmers must have at least 0.2 hectares of irrigated agricultural land.

Application Process

Farmers can apply online through the Raj Kisan Saathi portal, either through an e-mitra or their own computer. The application process requires submission of necessary documents, including land records, Aadhaar card or Jan Aadhaar card, irrigation source certificate, and supplier quotation.

Key Points to Consider

  • The purchase of the system must be made from a department-registered manufacturer, adhering to specified standards.
  • Farmers have the right to choose their supplier.
  •  The scheme aims to promote sustainable agriculture practices and efficient water use.

By adopting modern irrigation techniques and leveraging government subsidies, farmers can improve their crop yields, reduce water waste, and contribute to a more sustainable agricultural future.
